Image of Structure - Critical Mass Selection

Joshua Sariñana’s Image of Structure was named a Top 200 selection in Photolucida’s Critical Mass 2018, an internationally recognized competition that highlights exceptional contemporary photography. Critical Mass, known for its rigorous selection process, provides significant exposure to photographers through industry professionals, curators, and publishers.

This series, captured at the Stata Center at MIT, reimagines the architectural landscape through a lens of abstraction and emotion. Sariñana’s approach transforms the building’s well-known façade into a study of form, contrast, and psychological depth, reflecting his background in both neuroscience and photography. The selection of Image of Structure for Critical Mass underscores its conceptual strength and visual impact, placing it among the most compelling works in contemporary photography that year.
