My research investigates the cellular and circuit-level mechanisms underlying memory formation, synaptic plasticity, and cognitive flexibility, with a focus on dopamine signaling within the hippocampus and broader forebrain. I’m particularly interested in how neuromodulators shape context-dependent learning and how the disruption of these pathways may lead to memory generalization. By leveraging region-specific genetic knockouts, in vivo electrophysiology, and reinforcement learning, my work has helped parse the distinct roles of D1 and D5 dopamine receptors, offering mechanistic insight into the brain discriminates between what matters and what doesn’t.
