Mapping Pathways of Discovery: A conversation with Joshua Sariñana

The podcast episode of Culture Matters at the Urban Media Art studio features Joshua Sariñana discussing his project Mental Mapping: The Art of Exploring Connections, which bridges neuroscience, photography, and art to examine how individuals connect their internal experiences with their external environments. Using artificial intelligence to analyze interviews with creatives, the project reveals hidden networks of thought and behavior, mapping how people navigate social, natural, and urban spaces. Sariñana reflects on his scientific journey, his artistic inspirations, and the integration of storytelling, memory, and visual narratives. The conversation highlights the potential of art and science to foster connections, spark imagination, and deepen our understanding of place and self.
